DIVING ALOR, EAST OF FLORES
The charming archipelago of Alor lies on the east side of Flores. As a result of volcanic activity, this island chain offers a stunning land- and seascape. The Flores Sea presents an extremely rich and extraordinary marine biodiversity and has been identified as an important route for some whale species such as the sperm whale and the humpback whale. In a lovely water temperature of 26-28 degrees (79-82°F) in the north and cooler 20-25 degrees (68-77°F) in the south, this area has an excellent visibility with more or less strong currents.
Diving in Alor doesn’t only mean swimming around and meet some fish. Diving in Alor means entering a spectacular world full of an incredible marine wildlife: frog fishes, octopus, fire sea urchins, Mola Molas, hammerhead sharks, whales, dolphins, marlins, sailfishes... The list seems to be endless ! No wonder this archipelago is recognized as one of Asia’s most beautiful dive sites.
