In association with the Project Aware Dive Against Debris program, Dune Atlantis organized a big clean-up in the ocean and then on Semawang beach in Sanur on the 12th April.

In the early morning, our divers first collected the trash directly from the ocean. The rest of the team then gathered at the beach in order to pick up the debris. Later, we sorted and weighted the from the ocean debris at the dive center and afterwards, reported it onto the Project Aware database. The association harvest these datas in order to classify each type of trash that can be found in the ocean. We mostly found plastic bottles and single-use wrapping. 7kg of trash have been reaped in less than an hour.

The rubbish collected on the beach were also sorted following plastic or paper material. All in all, more than 62kg of debris were given to EcoBali, a waste management company and recycling.

All along this event, France 2 TV program team followed us for a report on the pollution Bali has to face to in order to show what actions and events are organized all around the island.

Dune Atlantis International Bali delights in organising frequently these clean-up and hope to raise awareness as much as possible 🙂
